A group of designers from Beijing aim to solve the problem of
air pollution which has reached crisis level across the country, through parasitic
drones that perch on neon billiards in Hong Kong and suck up pollution to
produce fuel and grow plants.
This system would collect organic waste from plants to
create Biogas, and the extra CO2 be used to would be used to create methane
These parasitic drones or parasitic robots would perch on neon
billboards that line Hong Kong streets
with their wings spread during the day time. They would collect pollution
through a carbon absorbent polymer paint. This concept of cleaning air through
drones is still undergoing lab test at university of California, Los Angeles .
These pollution parasitic robots at night, would attach to the
billboards, when they light up, using the heat of neon in the next process.
Heating this carbon absorbent polymer paint to a certain
temperature will release CO2 which could be collected and used in energy
production. The CO2 will boost up the growth of plants on robot wings,so the
robots can double as miniature farms.
This system has many benefits apart from cleaning air, we can get biogas which can be compressed same way as natural gas is compressed
to CNG and can power motor vehicles and also extra CO2 which is produced would
be used to create methane.
And adding to the benefits is the formation of some of the
fuels which can run the robots themselves making the system self-reliant.
